Description
This is another scene for the Allocene project. On the right you see a whalemergus and next to it an Uebermuzzle. The mergus is, as the name suggests, descended from the modern day mergus and the muzzle from pinnipeds.
The mergus and the muzzle are about the size of a sea-elephant.
Albeit I admit that when finished I wondered whether such an aquatic bird is possible. I guess the only possibility right now I can think of for it to have such a tail would be that the legs somehow fused. But I am only a layman in bird anatomy so no idea.

For my own speculative evolution project, I also made fully aquatic birds. In this case, gentoos. I gave them a fluked tail by shrinking their legs, and arranging the feet into a fluke position. I took inspiration from seals for that kinda thing. Although I like your marine penguin as well. You’re good, and one of the main reasons I went into speculative evolution.
